The University located on a very beautiful hill/mountain site 10 km. away from Chiang Rai town Center. The majority of the site terrain are very hilly to steep mountain with very few flatter area and less steep topography available.

The main goal for the design is to create a well harmonious developed campus onto the site’s richness by optimized/minimized the changes and maximized the preservation of its environment and character such as landform, natural water flow corridor, existing forest grove etc.

To achieve the balance in the campus functional usage, aesthetic and the environmental aspects, series of thorough site & program analysis were performed in order to obtain the site opportunity and constraints. Various site planning and design criteria were formed as framework for the project.

Such as Prominent landform and hill were preserved together with all natural water flow corridors, stream, swale have been protected and preserved. Water weirs, dam, retention ponds are proposed where possible to create collecting as usable and cooling the surrounding environment as well as aesthetically reflected the images of the buildings in the campus.

Big architectural buildings and function such as sport activities that required a big flat platform were placed where less steep and flatter area. Where smaller buildings such as teacher’ housing were located on steeper terrain in order to optimize/minimize soil cut & fill

Thus shall fulfil and enrich the coexistent of a well natural ecological habitat and human into this unique mountain/hillside campus.
