This
15-rai-property is located in the flooded area of Bang Kapi, Bangkok and
surrounded by building and abandoned land. The concept is to make the internal
level 2 meters higher than outside property as if the house situated on the
small hill according to the client’s requirement.
Due
to the big size of land, the landscape concept is to create different landscape
characters and variety of view. The space is categorized into 3 parts ie.,
front, center and the back.
At
the north side that is quite adjacent to external road, the building is placed
with enough distance with the buffer of tree in order to reduce pollution and
screen public disturbance. Part of front area is provided for the monk’s house
which is closed to the ritual room of the house.
At
the south which is the back area, at the furthest end is a detention pond for
aesthetic beauty and preservation of rain water that come through natural
swale. The water can be recycled to water the plants. Site surrounding has no
building which create sense of serene and relaxation for the area. Underneath
the gigantic existing Rain tree is a small pavilion for pleasure and has the
tree as backdrop.
The
center area is closed to the main house which was designed to be an open
multifunction lawn for different activities.
Plant
selection according to the client’s requirement is to be easily maintained and
has natural feeling. Therefore, the concept of Tropical Rainforest suited best
since it fit well with Thailand’s climate. Plant material is varied through
different space functions. Other elements in the landscape design has are
considered natural products to blend in the surrounding nature.
