THE SKY GALLERY is a restaurant project located on the cliff of Phra Tamnak Mountain in Pattaya. The development area is a flat land at the edge of the cliff with a long ocean front, providing a spectacular and panoramic view of the ocean. This site was abandoned for decades, leaving one gigantic Rain tree shade through the entire site.
The design concept is very simple: To enhance the site’s potential and preserve its nature at maximum. Building upon the site’s uniqueness, the existing Rain Tree has been conserved as a landmark. The design approach aimed to create an atmosphere of relaxation and socialization to meet the needs of all of its visitors.
The proportion of areas where use is emphasized on the non-congestion of construction areas. In order to provide a spacious space, the pavilion and restaurants are placed on both sides of the property lines, allowing an open vista view of the ocean from every single spot within the project. In addition to this, all ocean-view dining zones are positioned at different ground levels to differentiate their characters. The hardscape materials used are also in earth tone concept to create harmony with the environment. More importantly, for project sustainability, the plant species selected are salt tolerant and soil protecting.
This simple and humble design is
at the heart of the project as users are allowed to immerse themselves in the
natural environment throughout different times of the day.
